Why would you consider them legendary? They exist in multiples throughout the various reaches of Ultra Space. You yourself get opportunities to catch more than one of most of them.

Probably because Yu-Gi-Oh established itself with that sort of principle in mind?
Everything from Gen 1-5 (fuck it, maybe even 6) is at such a big contrast with 7 and 8. If you put this shit next to Magikarp or Luvdisc, it's jarring.

Everything in Yu-gi-oh is overdesigned because it was originally slated to be a supernatural horror series based on playing games of death. It just happens to be that you can draw a lot of shadows on stuff that has a lot of shapes.
