The thing about Pokemon is, it has an absolutely humongous skill gap.
Say what you will about Pokemon being a bad competetive game, the difference between the top and bottom players is probably bigger than most competitive games out there.
And that's because the grand majority of Pokemon fans have zero experience with competetive. And even for those that do play, like 90% of them are below 1400 elo. And then on top of that, Pokemon has two popular metagames that play extremely differently to the point that someone good at VGC will know absolutely nothing about singles and vice versa.
So you see these really silly posts at all hours of the day that obviously came from people that have never played competetive, and asking for their elo is a just a way to prove they even play the game at all. Because usually they have no experience past beating the elite four.
