>>44190226It's a shitty type with a lot of great designs that are the antithesis of the "deviantart core" (Eevees, Absol, Luxray, etc) so they're more or less in a perfect spot popularity-wise. Very few people hate them, they're the opposite of annoying furshit, but they're just not at the level of mainstream shillmon to the point where they would have developed a sizable hatedom too. This sort of recipe attracts a lot of obnoxious "muh underdog bro" fans.
Same reason is why a lot of Johtofags are insufferable. It's a region thats old enough to have a lot of nostalgia and good memories, but its not shilled by GF like Kanto is- so the fans tend to play the underdog card.
