Is it possible that we finally get a female Art Director in Generation 9? James Turner did his job fine but he souldn't do it again in the future. Yusuke Ohmura is freelancer and Ken Sugimori doesn't do it. So I hope Megumi Mizutani will be the Art Director in Gen 9.

What do you mean he didn‘t? He didn‘t design all pokemon you know. He just greenlighted the designs. And we got really good ones. But the artwork with poke refresh looked shit.

I like Turner and some of his designs but this is a really fair assessment. Sure, he green lit some good designs like Centiskorch and the Nickit line, but a good chunk of them look straight out of a calarts notebook. Like its a little hard to believe that Turner doesn't get pokemon design considering he's been working with tcpi on art since gen 3. To be fair to James and the team, they probably gave him the position in part because he's white and gen 8 takes place in Europe.

Whoever created Hop, Avery, Allister and Gordie is an idiot. Hop is annoying and badly designed even with strong pokemon and I hate the other guys because they replaced hot girls.

Honestly, I don't mind the Pokemon this gen other than a couple, but its probably got the worst human designs of Pokemon so that's my reason for not wanting him again.

sugi most certainly still does the final renditions of the official art of pokemon. You can quite clearly see it's his style. I think Ohmura is still doing human characters.
