Original favorite starter was Venusaur, and I still love him to pieces, but Grooky and his entire line are just everything I could've ever wanted. He isn't perfect, but he's fucking awesome.

The grass and water starters are all pretty good and could be equal or similiar but I didn't wanna use any pussy ass = signs.

I’ve gotta say, while I like Grass more than Fire or Water, Water seems to have the most solid lineup: the only one that I don’t like is Samurott, while for Grass I don’t care much about Venusaur and dislike Serperior, and for Fire I dislike Typhlosion, Cinderace, and kind of dislike Emboar.

also to be honest, Swampert is only so high because it was my first starter and because Mudkip is my favorite base form. If we’re going based more on final forms alone without my starter bias, I’d probably move it down to 3rd place.

Also to clarify, I don’t outright despise or hate hardly any starters, even the ones near the bottom (However, Inteleon and Samurott especially were really disappointing and had way more potential). Also the Johto starters final forms are kinda bland, especially Typhlosion and Meganium (their middle stages were their best).

There are only 2 great Fire starters and the rest are mediocre or flatout shit. Worse type for starters. Grass Starters are consistently great and Meh at worst. Probably the best type for starters. Water Starters have amazing highs, but Rock Bottom lows, with Swampert Greninja and Empoleon being some of the best of the franchise, but overall it's pretty great too.
