If you're talking that it's a broken buggy mess, Then it isn't.
If you're talking that how well received it is amongst fans, Yeah.
There has been cases that actually defended Sonic 06 back in the day often from obsessive fanboys. And same deal here I think. Even then, A lot of Sonic before it were criticized like Sonic Heroes and Shadow the hedgehog were criticized but fell into deaf ears.
Atleast before Sonic 06 came around and everybody realized just how buggy and unplayable it was.
But there has been also sonic games on the Wii with Broken motion controls and an all around dumbed down experience. Because Sonic Team felt like they didn't have to try anymore and eventually Sonic became a Laughing stock.
Sure, You may get some good games here and there. But even then, It's all part of the fucked up Capitalist system we live in.
Least Sega doesn't take down fangames.
