>>44228383Remember, you're not trying to make a spider, you're trying to make a pokemon. Your inspiration for that pokemon just happens to be a spider.
Looking at the shape of the design next, it's pretty cliche I guess. I don't know how else to describe it. If someone told me that they made a cartoon spider that's what would come to my mind. It feels overdone. Start adding things and taking things away from it to really experiment, and I'm not just talking about adding patterns, like the sun on its abdomen. Change the body shape, remove legs and add more legs in places that people wouldn't expect for legs to be found it, move the head to a different position, and change the shape of everything Just because it's inspired by a spider doesn't mean you're restricted to only making a spider. I think some of the best pokemon designs around are those that can't be instantly associated with some kind of real world equivalent.
All of this while putting consideration into how it would move and live in a world, so you create a creature that people could imagine being alive instead of some abomination
even if you're making an abomination it's still a good idea to think about these thingsI guess I'm just trying to encourage you to go wild and try something that could be it's own thing. Because right now it's just a cartoon spider.
