Be honest anons, if Pokemon were real would you really waste your time being a Pokemon trainer when you a could be a Pokemon breeder, Pokemon coordinator, or Pokemon doctor? Being a trainer just seems kinda cliche.

Most people aren't just straight up trainers for a living. Being a trainer is basically a cultural rite of passage though, so a lot of people will be trainers for at least a while.
