>>44232484I can agree with your point, but I still think lining up your typing or at least confining yourself to a few types would be helpful in actually feasibly raising a team of Pokémon. For the elites, it could be a matter of regulations, but nothing stopping anyone from being the Very Best, as shown by Cynthia who’s team is extremely varied, although I guess several of them probably don’t have to eat.
Look at Hikers, who typically sport a Rock, a Ground, and/or a Fighting. Plenty of average Hikers have no problem raising an Onix alongside a Machop and a Sandshrew. But if they insist on having more than four mons, their team looks more like a handful of Geodudes and a Graveller. It probably gets harder to raise a bigger group of Pokémon unless they share similarities in their needs, namely diet and habitat.
This is corroborated by the Ace Trainers you see at Victory Road, who typically boast a more varied spread of types and rarer Pokémon overall.
