Detailed/highres GBA graphics come at the cost of gameplay. With the simple compact graphics of gen 3, you can easily tell where you can/can't walk and you can also take in much more information from one screen than you can from large graphics that hog the GBA's limited screen size.
There's no excuse for the bad 3D though.

In this case, TPC wanted to bring Pokémon to home console, try and sew up a market, just like Game Freak had the handhelds all stitched up with Pokemon sales.

Pokemon is a Proto MMORPG, with a very important social component

The rest of the games are more personal and solo experiences, like reading a story or a novel. Once you finish Mario or Zelda, besides gathering collectibles, you keep them in a drawer.
Pokemon has infinite replayability. There are people who play Pokemon X/Y officially, a 2013 game online, tell me how many massively multiplayer Wii U Mario or Zelda players are playing today? (few, very few)

Anon, not every company uses every asset they own all the time - look at Nintendo, aside from Captain Falcon showing up in Smash, F-Zero's been up on bricks at Nintendo 16 years. They made a company and retain that company, as it's still cheaper than contracting an outside studio to go make their games for them.

If you're a kid maybe, I played one fifteen years ago and haven't felt the need to play another one since, let alone the same one again, because they're so ridiculously formulaic. Nah, here was fucking Zelda as example of better graphics and it was always gameplay-wise superior to any pokemon game on GBA.
Heck even FFVI port was better graphically and had better gameplay as Jrpg

Why is this always used as an argument? First of all most of those who played gen 3 would have been like 8 - 13 years old and likely lacked a pc - places like vp didn't exist. The idea is that Pokémon games have always been behind graphically, and it was sort of overlooked because well there weren't many handheld consoles, and it's Pokémon right? However as time passed these children became adults and look back and think holy fucking shit they were so bad but also are still making shit tier quality games.

So shut the fuck up about "pretending to care now" because you're ignoring a ton of reasons why it went overlooked or undiscussed. You're being dismissive to facts you're too dumb to consider.
