The problem here my dude is that gen 1 was the first, all the trash designs are protected by nostalgia. I don't like it anymore than you, but that's why.
Gen 5 had a lot of good designs like Chandelure, Zoroark, Haxorus, and Galvantula. But it also created shit like Garbordor, Vanilluxe, Sawk/Throh, and Watchog.
>FUCK YOU MAN I LOVE THROHThat's not the point, friend. The problem is that the majority does not. Species like these are constantly the ones brought up by gen 5 denouncers. You can say they have shit taste, but if gen 5 species as a whole had been a bit higher quality they would have been much more readily accepted like gen 3 was. That's not to say more odd designs like the aforementioned couldn't exist in gen 5, but maybe they should have put in less of them so the roster as a whole could have been better received.
