The champion was waay better in SM, but USUM are harder in general.

It’s just that after totems and ultra necrozama, having the malasada boy be the last battle feels underwhelming af. At least Kukui was a nice symbolic way to end the game.

Theres a reason they stopped having the Rival be the final boss after Gen 1. There's no sense of accomplishment when the last boss is the same loser you've humiliated a dozen times already. Then USUM wants us to care that Hau, possibly the most pathetic rival yet, has come to get his ass kicked yet again.
