Voltorb is a great pokemon in Red/Blue version. You can catch it right before Rock Tunnel It can use the Thunderbolt TM right away for some nice STAB. What do you guys think about Voltorb?

I just like to take advantage of STAB in the story mode. You don't have any STAB opportunities with Bubblebeam. By the time you'd get something to use for it you can get Surf. You might as well teach to it to Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Raticate. I guess you could use it on a Vaporeon, but that's about it.

Voltorb takes advantage of Thunderbolt right away.

Voltorb and Electrode are mimic enemies/object mons done right on so many different levels. The game abstraction of items looking like pokeballs changes their design from a potentially lazy gimmick to an actually intuitive design.
