He's a gorilla who can bend nature to his will and control vines and trees. He could very easily defend a small part of the woods from a bunch of chimps, and I imagine that if the Rillaboom just focuses on defending his home the Chimps will just leave the tree alone. He might not even be that easy to find.
Or maybe he'd be able to calm them down with his rhythms? That is something his line is good with. Honestly I think Rillaboom (and most pokemon if we're being realistic here) would be perfectly fine, because if he's not defeating them in a fight he's making it so that they can't get to him in the first place.
Human characters would be fucked beyond belief though.
