The expanded options for shadow pokemon was really nice, but Colosseum had it beat on both its MC front and its general story front.

It's slow but unlike the other games I can't emulate it at 8X speed so I don't have to read a book while waiting for text and animations. Overall the shadow pokemon were gimmicky and only being able to catch pokemon once in some cases was shit but I had a great deal of fun with it as a child. My team was Vaporeon, Amapharos, and Houndoom.

I didn't play it, I wasn't a child who needed each and every game made with "Pokémon" slapped on the front of it, when I only really cared about what Game Freak were doing.

The final dungeon ruins the pacing of the game. At least a third of the games shadow pokemon are in that one dungeon. They really should have split that dungeon up into several others, even if it is just to get key fragments to go into the final dungeon. Also, they should have stuck with the original story where Wes becomes the villain.

Haven't played it, but played Colo.
Great concepts. I'd love to see a good pair of hacks which add a few more mons, especially shitmons, the gen 4 crossgens (But please not the fucking regional forms, those suck ass), and some more story content.
Not to mention battle changes, like the Phys/Spec split.

Colo had the better story for sure, but XD had really cool locations in addition to a longer campaign, more pokemon options, and more to do.
Also that 2on2 multiplayer mode was fun as fuck for quick random battles with friends.

Gameplay was an improvement over Colosseum in every way, story was a step back though. Citadark Isle is one of my favorite final dungeons/villain hideouts in the series, but it didn't need to have half of the game's Shadow Pokemon.

Colo and Gale are the best spinoff games, imo. PMD is not the same as the main games, so I consider it the best spin off that doesn't play like the main games.
HGSS > FRLG = Colo/Gale > BW1/2 > stadium1/2 > hoenn/sinnoh > shit > gen 6+

It is super easy, idk how can you miss
You put pokemon in a circle so the one you are puryfing is strong against the first of the circle, then you carry over the weakness so every pokemon is weak to the last one, then the final one should be strong against the first one.
Normal is weak against normal.

ACTUALLY the pokemon doesnt have to be strong against the next, its just that ONE typing of the first pokemon must be strong against at least ONE typing of the next one (meaning Quagsire for example would be "weak" to electric)

so its technically even easier than that

Sorry, I mixed the two terms up. From what I remember, to get maximum Flow you need to have all 9 sets of the Purify Chamber filled, with no set having any repeating types within. In that example, you would have to replace Dragonite with something else, because it shares Flying with Pidgeotto.

Yeah, Lugia just needs all the Sets to be full (Max Tempo), quickest/easiest way is to just catch a bunch of Hoppip since they're weak to themselves. Max Flow just speeds up the Purification of other Shadow Pokemon.

Everything is great except the MC, Michael looks like some noodle-armed gumby character. Wes was easily the best MC of the entire franchise. Michael is essentially the worst. All spinoffs included. He looks like he was from the Trozei artstyle then transplanted into a gritty semi-realistic 3d world. It is very jarring. If there was a mod that let you play as Wes in XD that'd be a tremendous improvement.

If I've gotten my type match-ups right, then:

That should lead to Max Flow, depending on which of the remaining Shadow Pokemon are put into which Set. The troublesome part is that I don't think it's possible to have Max Flow while any Normal monotypes are in the chamber, because they're only super effective against themselves.

I like the overall feel of Colosseum, seemed darker but not in an edgy way like most rom hacks. GoD had more quality of life changes and more mons available (snaggable AND wild), and the last stretch in the game was basically a non stop gauntlet where you try to snag the remaining ones, including legends. Also way more locations.

It's a shame Orre will likely never be revisited

Sounds like it would take way longer to purify them this way than just having half flow. Since you basically give up to start purifying right away to keep them for when you have rescued most of them

Yeah, trying to maintain max flow throughout the whole campaign is pretty infeasible, the earliest you could even achieve it is right before Citadark. It's really something that would only benefit the last few mons since they start throwing bosses with 2-3 Shadow Pokemon. Still, I'd like to try it someday, even if it's just as an excuse to replay the game.
