I can't believe detective pikachu was so close to being good and breaking the 'video game movie curse', then fucking SONIC of all things comes along and makes the first good video game movie.

How was the trailer so fun and the movie so fucking boring? It was like the most standard traditional hollywood plot in a time when everyone is obsessed with muh subversion (which is a cancer all to itself but thats a different rant). It used all the most awful tropes like amnesia, a retarded romance sideplot, a stupid forced argument between the main characters that gets resolved in the last act, an obvious twist villain, sequel baiting.

Also what they fuck were they thinking releasing alongside fucking ENDGAME? A movie that was guaranteed to be at least in the top 5 highest grossing movies of all time. It's like some higher up decided to sabotage the whole thing because they didn't put his waifu Lucario in the movie.

You don’t think that they maybe did that on purpose to get attention? If they had used an accurate design from the get go not a lot of people would have cared. But by bastardizing a well know design they get the attention of everyone who ever enjoyed sonic, even if they don’t follow the new stuff, and tell them that there’s now a movie. Then they get to turn around and get good company points by saying that they listened to the fans and built a new cgi model that was more accurate.

It’s one trailer, and they might have prepared to sell merch of the bad design in order to try and meme it more if one trailer wasn’t enough. I think you don’t understand how costs work if you think it is somehow more reasonable to think they just recreated every fucking scene in the movie with another model and made sure the actors were looking at Sonic at the correct angle since the model is smaller.

Sonic is absolute shit that makes DP look bearable in comparison. I used to think the Pokemon fanbase was a bunch of shit eaters that would gobble up anything with the Pokemon Name on it, but the fact that the film received honest criticism coupled with the actual bombardment of negative reception SW/SH got despite not being nearly as bad a game as Sonic 06 was went to show that at least the fanbase was realizinng they should have standards, even if they're still remarkably low. But the Sonic fanbase has evolved to the point where they're "ironically" eating shit and loving it. Most of their games have been even worse than Pokemon games. The Sonic movie is one of the worst things i've ever seen, and anyone defending this only tangentially related to the Sonic universe neutered Ted Clone based on the awful "WHAT IF GAYM CHARACTER WAS IN REAL WURLD!?!" bullshit deserves to have their entire genepool erased.

That's War & Peace tier in the franchise that had Ash failing for 20+ years. We don't have standards for storytelling.
