>>44264917The King's Shield nerf is significant because it means anything that could 2HKO or OHKO Aegislash with a super effective physical move can no longer do so. A good example would be Mega Charizard X:
>252 Atk Tough Claws Charizard-Mega-X Flare Blitz vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Aegislash-Shield: 380-450 (145.5 - 172.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO>-2 252 Atk Tough Claws Charizard-Mega-X Flare Blitz vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Aegislash-Shield: 188-224 (72 - 85.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKOAegislash could then 2HKO using Shadow Claw, Shadow Ball + Shadow Sneak.
With a -1, physical attackers are no longer forced to switch out of Aegislash. A mon like banded Dracovish could KO it in shield form even at -1.
loss of pursuit also hurts aegislash more than it helps because ghosts like dragapult or psychics like alolan raichu will just switch out rather than eat shadow sneak
this is particularly important with the new koko/raichu combo and rising voltage, raichu spams rising voltage and runs away from priority or sucker punchers
The most common sets in older metas were Swords Dance and toxic stall sets, but the introduction of Toxapex really shits on most Aegislash sets because haze wipes away boosts, pex is immune to toxic and knock off/ scald will eventually destroy Aegislash. Only special sets with lucky shadow ball spd drops check pex, and only physically defensive pex.
