It's kind of weird how Steel resists Psychic, but Alakazam can bend its spoons with its mind.

Maybe it could be a signature move?

I think it's supposed to show just how powerful Alakazam is if he can bend metal with his mind. Naturally metal would resist it.

Has Alakazam ever actually bent its spoons in any media?
It doesn't do that for any of its in game attack animations.

They're just fucking spoons, people. You don't need to over-analyze. Spoons are small and thing, even if they "resist" Psychic forces it doesn't even matter.

You know you can bend a spoon with your bare hands, right? It's not an impressive display of force.
