Pokémon was still pretty popular when gen 3 hit but after that it went downhill as the kids who grew up in pokemania grew out of Pokémon and the new kids weren’t as interested in Pokémon as the Xbox/PS4 and other games took the spotlight and their only hope was to make a smartphone Pokémon game, which they did but couldn’t capitalize on. The only hope for Pokémon to return to Pokemania is for them to push into AR/VR like
>>44263061 stated, the google glasses would be a great way to start, if the become standard like phones are, a VR/AR Pokémon game on them would be perfect and take the world by storm, but unlike Pokémon go, they would actually have to release a new title on them with a new storyline and characters for it to have the same effect the Pokemaina did.
That being said Pokemaina can happen if TPC can play its cards right and Pokémon has the money and resources to pull it off and Ishihara has made it known that he wants to move Pokémon outside of the Nintendo home console (go,masters,unite)I still think they would release games in the home console, just that if Pokémon wants to make more money,they have to expand their territory.
