As much as I love hgss, some of the design choices were absolutely baffling. I was building a team for a playthrough of it a while ago and it seems like every decent fully evolved mon is either late game, postgame or a trade evo mon.

That kimono girls fight in hgss can be brutal, you have to fight them one after the other with no healing or swapping round in between and they’re at level 36, whereas you’ll probably be around 33/34.

The espeon and Jolteon are particularly brutal

also the postgame is a bit better since ds kanto is the full region and you get the platinum battle facilities, and if you're comparing it to the shit we got in gen 8 then barren is completely the wrong word.

It literally has more post-game content than any other game in the series. You might not personally like it, but that doesn't mean that it isn't content.

I didn't know until like two days ago that Slugma was a Gen2 Pokemon rather than a Gen3 Pokemon. The first time I remember seeing it was at Mt. Pyre in Ruby - I never saw it in Johto at all, which makes sense, because for some reason it was locked in Kanto.

gym leaders only go up a max of 5-6 levels, easily made up by battling each trainer that blocks your path.

being able to explore a full sized region complete with it's own story arc and 8 gym leaders, legendaris battles and battle frontier, it is the largest postgame in the history of pokemon.

as in a Full Restore? those have always been around in victory road.

outside of the evolution stones I cannot really understand why the rest of these complaints would be more than mere accusations unless the goal was to also put every other pokemon game below HG/SS.
