How many people on /vp/ are playing rom hacks or on eumulators? What percentage of /vp/ is actually playing legit copies on the actual consoles?

I'm playing Renegade Platinum. I've heard great things and it's my favorite Pokemon so I gave it a shot. It's pretty damn great, I highly recommend it.

Boomer here. I'm feeling really nostalgic and was considering buying HGSS since G/S/C were my favorite pokemon games. However I heard that the remakes have a ton of problems such as bad level curves as well as poor access to kanto pokemon such as the starters. I heard that theres a ROM hack called Sacred Gold and Storm Silver that people have been recommending.

Do you guys recommend playing the regular HGSS first just to experience it or just skip it and play Sacred Gold/Storm Silver

The issues HGSS has are all issues that were present in the original, some even worse back then, so if you didn't mind them before you'll probably not care now.
I'd still recommend playing the vanilla game first just to experience it.

Last time I played GSC was when I was 9 so I barely remember the level curve. Main thing I want to do is to build a team of my favorite mons. Jolteon and Blastoise are on the list and I remember you can only get Blastoise post game and someone said that you can only get thunder stone late game as well

Emulator play is better, really. It let's you play much faster, and not have to play on a tiny ass screen, depending on what you run the emulator on and what you're emulating. Plus, emulators give you access to romhacks without needing a flash cart.
