The developers are giving these games extra time, we're finally at 1000 Pokémon and Game Freak wants to shake up the old formula of the videogame series.
The games are supposed to be a 'bridge' from the classic recipe to the new one. As I said they're taking time and giving more attention to them, they're planning the release on Fall 2023, there will be still other Pokémon games inbetween.
The region doesn't have a name yet to my knowledge but is divided in 3 parts: North, Center, South. North is Venice territory, Center is based on Rome, while South is Naples or Bourbon, also has a Greek touch to it imo.
You will choose which part to start from, each has a different main story and different starters unique to their subdivision. The region will also have 3 legendaries, one for each subdivision, the North will have a Fire/Flying lion, Center will have a wolf that will tie with Galar's story, the South will have a marine monster, i believe it's inspired from Homer's Odyssey.
One of the North's starters will have Steel as their 2nd typing to symbolize the industrial North. One of the South's starters will pose as a tarantula but it actually isn't one.
The Northern area will mainly be sea and alpine looking mountains, the Central area will be imperial looking while the Southern area reminds me of Alola, very summer-y with islands and volcanoes.
That's all. The games' are being developed right now and are codenamed 'Project Tokay".
