My first pokemon game after Platinum was Omega Ruby, over 10 years later. I hadn't given much attention to Mawile, but she carried hard through the entire game, especially once she got her mega. I kept myself severely underleveled to have some challenge and she still tore through everything.
She's been on all my teams since.

But if we're talking my 'canon' character, my starter/bro is Wigglytuff for certain. I love this dude, even if he's pretty trash in most games. At least the post Gen-6 games and some hacks I can break him out for some fun.
Also in canon we see the likes of the Guildmaster in EoS and I vaguely remember Ash battling a monster of a Wigglytuff in the anime some time, so he has waaayy more potential than the games give him credit for.

If we're talking ace though, that honour always goes to Swampert. I know starters aren't the most creative choice, but he's such a powerhouse and has carried me through some tough ROMhacks I can't help but love him. He isn't flashy or 'cool', as a kid I preferred Sceptile and Blaziken for that edge-factor. But Swampert grew on me with just how reliable he is. He's the rock in any of my teams that I can build around and know he won't fail.

My shouldermon, used her as my starter in XY and I've trasnfered her to every other game to earn all of the available ribbons. Thanks to SM's hypertraining I maxed her IV's and thanks to SS's nature mints I changed her from a bashful to a timid.

I'm not sure this counts since I don't get one every game I can, I just have the one that is mine. But I caught my froslass in my first playthrough of platinum to help me beat the ice gym, figured ghost beats ghost. It did it's job and so I took it along with me, beat the elite 4 with its help, then I decided to try to get it all the contest ribbons for fun, slowly it grew on me and became my favorite and most beloved pokemon, I transport the same one through all the games, giving it as many ribbons as I can. It isn't always on my team though since it's lvl 76 now and I like to try to make the games challenging.

Swampert followed me from R to E to D to PL to HG to B to B2 to ecks to OR but finished off in S. But like the mons in my og Ruby who started turning into bad eggs he too became one. Its been decades, so im not sure how it hit him since I dont remember ever using a game shark on him. But man, he was my first pokemon, and he actually died.

I caught azumarill in black 2, the first game where I was really able to understand what was going on. I got him as a Marill near driftveil and he evolved on the plasma frigate. I fell in love with the guy due to having a pet rabbit irl. He stayed on my team and has been with me ever since.

I love vaporeon, I had him on my first ever team in gen I and have proceeded to use on in every subsequent game. He really carried his weight and was instrumental to me beating the E4. Call me a basic bitch for choosing an eevee, but he is just so cool and elegant looking. A great combination of the more fantastical fish like elements and cute cat body, the ability to literally turn into water and secrete poison is nice as well.

Silvally! Since the moment I got him from Gladion in SM I ditched my main team and started using Type: Null only. At first it was only to evolve him for the living dex, but Iove the guy so much. I still use my first Silvally which I transfered from SM, even though I own 2 shiny Silvally atm.
