Unfortunatly the overall game experience is not aimed at hardcore fans and is designed to be enjoyed by the largest amount of people possible.

Then riddle me this, why is it that kids/zoomers nowadays love the open-world/battle royale shit that everyone is pushing and yet Pokemon is stubbornly opposing it? If the target audience were truly children, they'd be sticking to the trends that keep this supposed demographic captive.
Kids nowadays hate Pokemon for anything other than the monsters. The most they would do is pick the game up at a less fortunate friend's house and drop it within 10 minutes because they don't want to mash A through the hundreds of unskippable text boxes and "quirky" animations they have rigged to bloat playtime.
Doesn't seem like a very sound business approach to me if your player retention is utter shit. Sword and Shield were supposed to be the first mainline Pokemon games and yet they aren't even halfway through the likes of Mario Kart in terms of sales. What are they going to do once the hype for the next big ticket Pokemon game being on a console wears off? They're already scrambling to find the next Pokemon Go and have resorted to scummy tactics like creating multiple subscriptions in Home wherein Bank was supposed to be the final solution. Kids aren't going to pay for subscriptions and DLC forever, they're milking retards like you specifically because they know perfectly well how the series manages to coast by.

Johto at least has the courtesy to pad it out with new areas. You're still exploring. Galar has you flying to places you've already been with its abysmal text speed and battle flow

Either way mine of that matters. It's just an attempt to deflect the main fact that SS+DLC is probably the largest game I the franchise.

The "new areas" were literally shrunken down and left barren.

Because everything was already explored and the "postgame" area was given after you get the water bike
