I've decided out of nowhere that the fire goat is an important pokemon in the region. It's base form helps patrol the region and control fires (by eating all the dried grasses and starting controlled fires), and the middle and final evo taught humanity how to build bridges with the Timburr and Meltan lines, allowing them to cross a giant rift/ravine separating them from the rest of the continent, and link to islands.
And that one of the legendaries might be based off of the aztec world-crocodile. It's also responsible for the rift separating the region.
