All it does is completely remove the element of surprise and prolong battles with a lot more switching with virtually no consequences, whereas without team preview, there would be certain pokemon that you would keep hidden from your opponent, as surprises to turn the tables. The absence of team preview adds a new layer to battles, and also makes them shorter and reduces the amount of switching. Fuck team preview
