>>44307574Honestly i think the main issue is that the game already pulled the "Gym Leader refuses to give badge" schtick with Whitney, arguably better too since she was not actually actively refusing as much as she was bawling her eyes out.
Claire comes off as being very full of herself due the pre-battle text and getting cockblocked at the LAST badge with a very flimsy "I lost, but i won't recognize it" and then sending you on a task she herself is noted to have failed at meaning she never actually intended to have ANYONE to pass, not just the player.
She also calls herself the worlds best Dragon Master, and well, we all know that ain't true even in the same game, but she is at it even at the World Tournament, where there are a TON more Dragon specialists at equal or higher skill.
It adds character and makes her a memorable Gym Leader though, Asshole trainers are neat, but people will call them assholes.
