- It's almost impossible to get anywhere in the BF without a guide on how competitive pokemon work. Back then a lot of kids had no internet and thus couldn't look up a guide. Today the majority of kids have internet access and can look up guides.
- Social Media and youtube means a lot of guides and in different formats so kids can just look up their favorite youtuber's guide if they want.
- QoL feature have made breeding and training a pokemon a lot faster than before.
- E-sport, youtube and twitch have made a lot of kids more interested in playing games thoroughly and/or competitively
