At least in BW/XY you can mash A to get through everything quickly.
From gen 7 on you're bogged down by godawful input lag that prevents the textboxes from just being selected instantly.

XY is barely playable just for the forced interaction with obnoxious npc's every 3 minutes.

I could maybe bare it if it was at least relevant/interesting, but it's just fucking drivel. There's no way kids played through these parts and didn't mash the keys to get back to the game right. There's no way I'd have had patience as a kid.

Gen.6 feels more like a sightseeing tour led by a guide rather than your own journey.

But Gen.7 took it to a whole new level. In Gen.6 the cutscenes are annoying, in Gen.7 it's unbearable.
