It's just that people who create the games tend to use Professional and up editions. You can't obtain VS2003 anyway without a MSDN subscription, and you can't build stuffs if you're not using Professional and up.

I understand what you are getting at, and I appreciate you trying to help, but nothing in these leaks uses the microsoft toolchain. Pokemon D/P for instance uses the NitroSDK toolchain which is specific for the DS. So VS2003 is effectively useless for these leaks, and if people truly want to port D/P to a native PC build, they should use 2019.

there's really not much of interest with this prototype beyond the bottom screen design, the badges and a few slightly different music tracks

Okay, I'm confused. I downloaded this pokegra.narc from the /ppg/ discord, dated 12th March.

Looking through it, though, the sprites for the kanto starters (and probably others) don't match up with the ones from that old leak, or the ones in the rom. If this file came from the leaks that were posted, where did the rom come from?

That said the "new_dp_easybuild.7z" has a checkout of DP already, at least the "pokemon_dp" folder (not the later version pm_dp_ose). If you just want to build DP then the easybuild thing SHOULD work.

I say SHOULD because it's not working for me goddamn it.

Uh reinstalling cygwin fixed an error with Make being an outdated version lol so maybe i just have to do it a second time. That's annoying. Do you have to do anything specific when uninstalling cygwin because i've just been nuking the folder and doing a re-install but that's probably the scrub method.

Hopefully there is still more to come, but there is no telling, and there is no *major* release pattern, but people's best guess is probably one more semi-large leak in 2-3 months and people think the major leaker will release a huge leak on Christmas based on context clues, but again, that's all hypothetical.

Alright I believe I owe you guys an explanation and an apology. I faked it. I faked everything. For years I’ve been reverse engineering the Mario 64 and Zelda source codes along with every mainline Pokémon game, including Yoshi’s Island and several other random SNES games and intentionally made the programming super incompotent as a joke. I did it in assembly, my favorite programming language, as a gag. I then proceed to do that 40 more times with games nobody cares about as a joke and did it again over 700 times with the gen 2 games. I then wrote code for the N64 and N64DD that wasn't incompotent as a joke. I also made a new rom database and several shitty emulators with my community college level coding skills as a joke. I then I made a lot of models ranging from barely started to completely finalized for Luigi, Bob-Omb, some guy in a sombrero, designed levels and a shitty game about a kid with a cornflake fetish as a joke. The same thing goes for the unused Pokémon. I also wrote hundreds of fake tape backups, you guessed it, as a joke. I also intentionally programmed in bugs, to link's awakening, made fake bug reports, and refused to address the bugs all for a laugh not to mention downloading JAV and just anything I could find on Pornhub and corrupted some of them. I did this in several languages as a joke. You all fell for it. I didn’t think this was gonna blow up but please follow my Twitter.

Yeah, however bbgames.7z doesn't have cvs metadata in the source code folders.
It might have been some sort of file corruption when the leaker copied it over. I'd think this is most likely, because at least LFS replaces the files with metadata in plaintext instead of making it 0 bytes.
