EVs are fine, you can use items to easily manipulate the stats.
IVs I can understand, it just makes finding valuable Pokemon for competitive more tedious. But for just the single player mode, it doesn't matter.
Egg Moves are a fun idea. With this idea in mind alone, you can enjoy hatching eggs with exclusive moves. But the tedium only starts with trying to hatch eggs with certain natures, abilities, and characteristics at the same time.

Yes. You do things in the game to make numbers go up and minmax your stats, like in literally any other RPG.

in rpg's you allocate stats as you level up.
in pokemon you must catch and breed iterations of pokemon to get your basic stats then you must battle tons of a certain pokemon to get the rest of your stats unlocked after this you can finally start the game and level up, like in literally any other RPG.

IVs are dumb and always have been dumb.
Egg moves are fine with the changes in SWSH.
EVs would be a lot better if they weren't applied automatically and you could allocate the ones you earn as you see fit.

EVs should be replaced with the old stat exp system from gens 1 and 2.
IVs should be removed.
Egg Moves should be kept, and expanded on, but added to a pokemon's relearner moves. .

Dark Souls 3 is an RPG, but I can kill anything while progressing the game and generally end up with exactly the resources to allocate into the stats and weapons which I want for any given build. Pokemon progression is the equivalent to farming the Flamberge in DaS3: it's tedious, a drop tied only to specific enemies, not challenging at all, and anybody who plays that game series hates doing it. Pokemon's progression system is unjustifiably contrived.

You don't need eggs moves/EVs/IVs to beat the singeplayer RPG portion of the game since its always piss easy.
Min-maxing only matters for the multiplayer portion of the game (which is literally Pokemon's only draw over other JRPGs) and it is a massive, unnecessary timesink.

I'd amend it to "Egg moves should be added to a Pokemon's relearner moves, but only if a Pokemon of that species has already been bred for that specific egg move." That way it's easier to get back egg moves on to species you've already bred for instead of having to do the whole process repeatedly until you get the exact combination of inherent traits you want.

The interesting part is deciding how to invest EVs your Pokemon’s stats, not limiting that Pokemon’s use to certain opponents with the right EVs. This would also let us skip the irritjating step of resetting your team’s random EVs at postgame assuming you played without carefully counting thrm.

Back then I just played the single player story and did multiplayer on showdown. These days I do the same but use hacks that fix the games.

Grinding for stats is just autistic. Why not play a MMO?

I dont really see the point of any them, we could still play competitively without EV/IV/egg moves, they are just extra grinding than everyone is forced to do, without them anyone could do online after finishing the game even if it doesnt has enough free time to grind.

Distributable stats are fine. Having to grind fifteen billion hours for one mon with the right moves is not. Gamefreak rendering breed-tism obsolete is one of the best things they've done.

I'd take all of those over hidden abilities. At least you have some measure of personal control over EVs, IVs, and egg moves, but some hidden abilities are just flat out unobtainable. There should either be a more consistent way of obtaining them or they should be removed entirely.

I think a brief amount of effort is cool to go into Pokemon we train. Not just for the customizable angle, a small sense of pride in working towards building your own Pokemon gives you greater satisfaction in using them. I don't expect people to appreciate busywork though, and that's what breeding and training are in reality. It's a flawed system, gatekept by experience and expertise that while not hard to learn seems disproportionate in what it asks for vs what you get in return.

EVs actually significantly increase strategic depth. IVs not so much outside of speed. You may want to deliberately outspeed or underspeed different pokemon, or at least threaten to do so in team preview, especially in doubles where you often want to precisely sequence your own turn order.

Breeding is simple, it's the RNG that's cancer. And you have to EV train right after. By the time your team of 6 is ready, the meta might be so different that your team is now unviable.
