>>44327019in 2018 a hacker hacked into nintendo servers (as well as the servers several other companies) and got away with about 2tb's worth of shit (mostly game development materials but some stuff related to console software/hardware architecture, internal emails, etc etc), and gave it to some of his friends.
included in these leaks is the original source codes for a lot of games, mostly from Nintendo EAD (Pokemon being a notable exception to this) and ranging from the SNES to the DS/Wii eras. pretty much the motherload of SNES and 64 source codes have been dropping over the past several days (if you go on /v/ you can find the threads where people have been going insane over luigi in mario 64)
all of these leaks are basically confirmed real due to the sheer complexity and insane coordinated effort it would involve trying to fake something like this, plus some unfalsifiable elements (9000px vector nintendo seal of quality, uncompressed charles martinet voice clips, you name it). basically, the motherlode.
it is my understanding that the earlier gen 1 and 2 pokemon leaks were tied to this leak as well (i may be wrong), but it's been taking a while for all of this to come out due to egos, hoarding, the time needed to decrypt and organize the data, etc
