Honestly a small +10 stat buff to its defenses then a mega boost to its offenses would do it great justice, then adding a mega with +40 spdef +20 Def, Speed and Attack would make it great without forcing an eviolite problem or rendering dunsparce as the awkward first stage to another Pokemon the same way it feels for Electabuzz.

If anything dunsparce needs a mega.

Now look at Banette and Mawile, you have to use the original to access the mega thus allowing you to have fun with the actual Pokemon instead of just replacing it.

What? Both of Magmar and Rhydon’s evolutions have great designs, it’s on you if you have a shit taste. And instead of declaring a Pokémon useless after it gets an evolution, why don’t you try to make it work? Eviolite exists for that reason.
And megas are kill anyway, I’m not sure why you keep bringing them up.

Dude you are talking to someone that popularized Rhyperior as a Clefable fucker in gen6 ladder.
Sometomes the evolution completely overshadows any potential utility the previous form could have.
Megas don't have that trouble since they are a "burst form" and by nature temporary wich allows you to enjoy dunsparce design while making it relevant in battles.

True facts. I remember getting the three swarmers in Silver, Qwilfish looking funny and actually being pretty good, Yanma being a big disappointment, but Dunsparce was a cute little thing with a lot of health and a lot moves so I didn't mind his not being very good and I was happy he got Serene Grace to give him something to do with them.
