I think it is worse designed then G-Zigzagoon and probably could been done better, but i don't think Obstagoon is THAT bad and probably one of my favorite Gen8 Mons, and i think it was fun to use in the main game, especially since the AI pretty much always goes for fighting moves (and said moves tend to be phyiscal) if it has them, thus they will always get "baited" into Obstruct, Reckless+Silk Scarf+TakeDown/Double Edge+STAB is a pretty easy "Nuke" to obtain and set-up before you get Choice Band (or are using Choice Band on something else), and Cross Chop and Night Slash means you can slap on Razor Claw/Scope Lens when you get those items.
The main issue is that Dynamax fucks it over conceptually since, well, Breaks Protects like Obstruct, but it is genuinely a fun mon to play around with which makes me biased having a good experience with a "ugly" mon warms you up to it after all.
