But it's rather slow, and plenty of Pokémon will knock it out before it can ever get to use Spore. Even once Spore is set up, there's not much it can do except switch out to a Pokémon better suited for finishing the opposing Pokémon off. And to top it all off, plenty of other, much better Pokémon get Spore.
So no it's really never been relevant and probably won't ever be.
