Image a little outdated, but thoughts on this?

(I like giving gigantic Pokémon a gigantic HP stat. Steelix always seemed like it was supposed to be the physical version of Blissey but failed miserably.)

I'd keep Steelix's 200 base Defense, but increase it's HP and Attack, while lowering Special Attack

Both Onix and Steelix will have a 540 BST, with Onix focusing on Speed and Attack while keeping it's 160 Defense, and Steelix being more minmaxed (lower Speed and Special Attack) and focused on Defense, HP and Attack

Meteor Mash is called Comet Punch in Japan. It's a punch move that's boosted by Iron Fist.
Double Iron Bash is another punching move boosted by Iron Fist. Also the move's description is pretty specific as to denote it as a signature move, making note of the hex nut in Melmetal's chest.
You always wanna double check Japanese names and move descriptions to be sure that the move makes sense for the Pokemon.

That’s the biggest killed of the “BUT IT’S AN EARLY GAME BOSS SO YOU CAN’T BUFF IT!” arguments.
Geodude has significantly higher attack, with pretty much the same Special bulk, a slight nerf to physical bulk, and being slower.

I actually tried a playthrough with an Onix when I replayed my firered copy, what a mistake. Trash damage, and the only thing it was good for by the endgame was spreading dragonbreath and tanking certain pokemon. For all the buffs certain pokemon got for these remakes, Onix was painfully overlooked.

He was supposed to be somewhat fast to exploit Gen1 wrap mechanics.
Low HP for armor-mons makes sense (but not that low), but a titan shouldn't have weedle-levels of Atk.
Give Steelix the same BST , to follow the pattern of Scyther-Scizor.
