It annoys me they made Gabite literally Garchomp with less details whereas the betas are unique designs on their own

That's a pretty big assumption since we have no idea what ancient shark coloring was and most free swimming organisms have dark tops and light bottoms for camouflage so color probably hasn't changed much

Whole line is trash, that shade of brown red doesn't look fitting at all. Blue, gray, and speckled/non-harsh white are the only colors I could see working.

The spikes have combat functionality so they're not unnecessary. However, I do agree that the forearm spikes are a little much.

The design fits Hoenn's/Gen 3 artstyle, lacking all the stylistic colorings, edges, and above all else spikes which defined the art trend of Gen 4.

It looks like a more naturalistic landshark which Prof.Birch would have studied the habitat of before getting nearly eaten by a pack of hungry Gibble.
