Since wild Primarina tend to keep to ranges outside of human interference, most people's first-hand knowledge comes from those they rear themselves from Popplio, either as starter gifts, or as trades or gifted eggs. In those cases, they do so by bonding with the pokémon, but it is a fine line and a dual-edged sword, too little bonding time or too weak a bond leaves a trainer vulnerable to the Siren's call, but too much bonding time or strong a bond is equally as dangerous, it leaves the trainer vulnerable to being chosen as the Primarina's mate (a species which exhibits monogamous pairings in the wild, an alpha male and female at the head of a family colony) which is an altogether more serious enchantment, because unlike being brainwashed by the magic of her voice, the trainer willingly walks into this enslavement of his own free will.
