>>44347651The starters typically have a pattern that looks something like this: Cool, Cute, Tough. The last two gens had the pattern as followed:
Gen 7:
Grass: Cool
Fire: Tough
Water: Cute
Gen 8:
Grass: Tough
Fire: Cute
Water: Cool
Therefore Gen 9s should be:
Grass: Cute
Fire: Cool
Water: Tough
There is also a pattern where after two generations, we get a monotype or something very close to monotype starters.
Gen 2 -> (Gen 3, Gen 4) -> Gen 5 -> (Gen 6, Gen 7) -> Gen 8
So Gen 9 will have starters with unique typing again. As bad as Gen 6 was, it did get its starters correct by giving them a DND class system. (This is probably because major portions of gen 6 were cut, and they didn't really get to expand on the pokemon war.)
Fire typically has the Chinese Zodiac theme going on. No idea about the other two.
An ambitious idea would be to make a grittier pokemon game that takes place in a post apocalyptic region that is either partaking in or recovering from the aftermath of a war.
Grass Pokemon: A cute dog
This pokemon would start off cute, but as it evolved, it would gradually become less and less domesticated until it resembles more of a wolf than a dog.
Final Evo Type: Grass/Dark
Fire Pokemon: A cool rat
A cool rat that gradually becomes more and more deadly as it spends more time exposed to the dangerous post apocolyptic wasteland.
Final Evo Type: Fire/Poison
Water Pokemon: A tough cockroach
A tough cockroach that only becomes stronger during its extended stay in the wasteland. This pokemon is more of an amalgamation of the first form when it evolves rather than its own unique pokemon.
Final Evo Type: Water/Bug
