I found this bad boy in VC Crystal at ~100 resets and killed it. Since then I am at ~1000 resets and trying to find it again

Why hunt it in Crystal when Hidden Ability capsules are confirmed? You can transfer one from HeartGold (or even Colosseum) and it won't have to miss out on pre-Gen 7 ribbons, then it can get Regenerator once Crown Tundra is out.

It's not shiny locked, I don't believe. But there absolutely is no "easy way" because to reset for it you'd have to do Mt. Battle from scratch every time. Still, if I were you, I would probably go for Colosseum Ho-Oh over a shiny one because this is the only way a Ho-Oh can obtain the elusive and prestigious Earth Ribbon.
