The last game you were fully in charge of was XYORAS. They've been systematically eredicating your 'bros' since then. The walls will only get higher, games will only allow a subset of the 'mons, paywalls will remain the rule.
Emulators can trade. The cross generational stuff might not work, but the alternative is the modern games where it explicitly does NOT work. There's no win here.
