because the meme was stale to begin with.
it's making fun of people who actually believe the beta designs were better (people with no sense of design/silhouette), so at it's core it's just extra steps to calling someone a retard with no taste, which has already been done to death.

Sometimes beta designs are good but were cut for artistic reasons, like the Tangela evolution/prevo; those are really complete but don't meaningfully add to Tangela conceptually, or derive too much from things like Shellder or Gengar. Their design ideas were recycled more effectively into other things like Unown and Mareanie. The Arceus meme is pretty funny because it's kind of true that there is inexplicable appeal to a god that is just cum with spooky halo eyes.
