That sprite work is actually god tier, all of them just have such a solid aesthetic when they're all lined up like that, gen 2 was actually such an amazing gen, honestly the franchise peaked with gen 2 and 3, tho I'll admit the gen 3 designs are different enough that they wouldn't blend in as seamlessly as gen 1 and 2 do together

>>44366326Before gen 4 it was pretty normal for some pokemon to just straight up not be very powerful, it wasn't really an actual competitive game yet, so the idea of having weak pokemon and strong pokemon was perfectly fine at the time, especially since any of them would be serviceable for the main story anyway
