Why does Game Freak always have characters say shit like this but then constantly introduce shitmons?
Siebold is OBJECTIVELY wrong. What are the "unique strengths" of Seaking, Furret, Chimecho, or Carnivine? The answer is they have no unique strengths - other Pokemon can do everything they can do except better.
Look at Carnivine for example. Stat-wise, it's basically a worse Victreebel. Victreebel itself is a shitmon that's been around since Gen 1. Why would Game Freak put in a worse version of an already bad Pokemon?
And Game Freak completely refuses to go back and re-balance old Pokemon beyond giving out a few measly, measly stat increases seemingly at random, or on rare occasions blessing a Pokemon with a useful new move.

Isn't this basically the entire crux of competitive, you're finding the best possible set of moves, stat distributions, abilities and items for each Pokemon?

Gentlemen. As a kid I struggled beating Karen because I didn't know the dark type weaknesses. Then after beating her, she gets salty by saying weak and strong are same. Even though the only way I beat was by using over levelled pokemon
