What's /vp/'s opinion on them? Are they worth playing? I'm new to the franchise (only played Fire Red,like 10 years ago), and are considering playing it in this order:
Emerald -> FRLG -> HGSS -> Platinum -> BW -> BW2 -> XY -> USUM

Colosseum = very different, worth at least 1 playthrough
XD = pretty solid
ORAS = much easier than Emerald and lacking all of Emerald’s improvements (though it adds a decent amount of its own content), possibly worth a playthrough at the end to compare and contrast with Emerald

The gamecube games are hands down the most challenging in the series, mostly double battles with ai that actually uses strategies instead of every single trainer having a type specialty. Just finished replaying Colosseum about a week ago and started replaying Gale of Darkness a couple days ago - many qol changes like saving when/wherever you want but the campaign starts out with singles at a much lower level and they baby the player a bit unlike Colosseum where it's expected you know how to play pokemon. ORAS... you get Ruby/Sapphire with megas and a slightly different story with a couple new archs and features, did not have Emerald's changes.
