Doubles are boring as fuck though, there's a reason the game campaign and anime are both 99% singles. They tried doubles games with the Orre games and that went so poorly they never did it again. Doubles are just a meme format and nothing more.

People liked the Orre games though...

I will admit that full double battles do get really boring, but VGC format (AKA: 4v4, you choose 4 at the start) makes it much, more better.

Because doubles require a higher amount of strategy and thinking, they are not suitable for peanut brains. They're a competitive format, so the singleplayer games mostly have single battles against NPC trainers, while the official battle format in tournaments is doubles.
