You cannot make it dragon, obviously, but you also can't make it Normal, Bug, or any of the starter's types (Fire, grass, or water). What is it like?
I would simply want a Fairy/Ground. Make it a slow mixed attacker but actually has good bulk, maybe give it similar stats to Tyranitar but with its special and physical attack stats switched. I think I'd want an ability like Sturdy or Filter so that you know you get at least one good hit in. Sand Force or sand Rush is all right too, I think I like Force better than Rush, actually. Design is an armadillo/pangolin type creature, kind of indeterminate and monstrous.
