What kind of skin does the Nido line have? Furry hair or a thick hide like a pachyderm? The final forms look like they just have plated skin like a armadillo but what about the earlier forms?

I really don’t know. Maybe they have short fur at first but then become covered in armor plates in their final forms.
This kind of thing is why I wish Pokemon had actual texture instead of being so smooth and plastic. It’s hard to tell which Pokémon have scales, fur, smooth skin, etc.

Always figured their first two forms had elephant-like hide, and Nidoking and Nidoqueen had chitinous carapaces with a few exposed layers of hide between. They'recertainly not soft or cuddly 'mons, especially Nidorina (who is implied in several dex entries to be covered in tiny poisonous barbs that lie flat when not in use).
