This. At least Alola HAD optional areas, of which Galar had literally zero outside the Wild area.
Alola had Seaward Cave, Kala’e Bay, Melemele Sea, Ten Carat Hill, Hano Beach, Maile Outer Camp, the road part of Mount Hokulani, Secluded Shore, Haina Desert, and in USUM, the Ultra Space worlds.

kanto is the best map gameplay-wise, but sinnoh is the most comfy region.

Hoenn's water routes have this. Did you ever go to the Dive locations or the current maze on routes 132, 133, and 134?

1)Use repels if you hate wild encounters that much
2)Fishing gives you more variety of wild pokemon
>you have to use HM slaves to go around
Except Surf is the best HM move so this isn't a bad thing. Dive isn't as good of a move so I might give you that
