He has a peculiar appearance. He should resemble a magician from the Middle East or a genie, but his head is a complete disaster, especially his lips. This is how dolls are drawn. Considering that he is naked, his pants look creepy as part of the bodies. With Lucario, this can be explained by the dense fur that protects something valuable.

always thought Medicham was stupid looking, but I really love its Mega, so many little things that really bring the design together, the beaded hip cloth looking thing that makes the transition to its pants look less jarring, the bangles on its arms adding colour to its body, the turban instead of the dumb ushanka looking thing, and the floating ribbon hands are all massive improvements, mouth is still kinda dumb but whatever

wish it was an evolution instead of a dropped gimik, rip

Its grown on me greatly recently, maybe its because I really like the Buddhist Monk style and can visualize this pokemon reaching some tier of enlightenment through the meditation and inner strength. I love its mega evolution too, the extra hands the bangles everything works. The face has grown on me in time, the only aspect of this Pokemon I wish we got would be a Gigantamax form of it that gets thousands of arms to match up with that whole "Buddhist Goddess" or Asura vibe. Its a cool pokemon, marred visually by big DSL lips and anime not taking full advantage of it.

Medicham is none of that, it's based on a buddhist monk, with several design elements taken from common depictions of the buddha. The head protrusion is the ushnisha, the side protusions are hanguing earlobes, and the round prominent lips are a common motif too. Mega Medicham meanwhile is a bodhisattva, with its extra arms actually being the floating scarves or tenne.

Maylene needed the medi-line too. It always fit her better and even in her own gen she had to compete with the champion and a guy cosplaying as Lucario that gives the player a Riolu egg.

Going off-topic here.
I used to be bothered by many of my faves' lack of popularity, but not anymore, not after the reveal video about the colaboration with Tencent. I'm glad I will never see my faves being awkardly played by Tencent staff members and similars to promote predatory schemes disguised as games.
People with the right mindset to love Medicham will likely come across it eventually. It doesn't need to become a shillmon.

I don't disagree, but at the minimum I'd love to see Medicham shown at its fullest, which in reality is probably never gonna happen. To this day the best Lucario depiction has been the movie where it was the focus, Medicham would need something similar to really delve deep into the pokemon.

Really intrigued by the fact that what we call "aura" in Pokemon is actually called "wave" and "wave-guiding" in japanese (and "ripple" in Riolu's case). The manga goes a step further by comparing it to sound.
I suspect the reasoning behind Lucario's steel type is somehow related to this.

The artist has several chapters based on the Sinnoh story, not sure if all of them. They are incredibly good. I just saw one about the lake trio's imprisonement and the blowing of Azelf's lake and it was very intense.

This got me thinking on what would be the best and most visually appealing moveset for a Medicham to have. It won't be blasting around all those Aura/Pulse/Wave Beams like Lucario but its got really potent psychic abilities so here's what I could think up:
>Medicham (Pure Power)
>High Jump Kick (Because of course it has HJK. It should show up and revenge kill the first thing it sees)
>Psycho Cut (I think this one is more visually interesting than Zen Headbutt. This could be a Psychic Mind Blade that it conjures from the Jieba Dots off its head and can slash people while also shooting psychic energy waves from it. Literally weaponizing its Psychic abilities. I'd say that's a bit cooler than a psychic headbutt)
>Rock Slide (Telekinetic rock throwing, it could do it while meditating at the start of the fight. It also counters Flying Types.)
>Poison Jab (It needs one punch option and it might as well be the one that counter's fairies.)

I imagine Medicham using Detect to dodge attacks like if it had Ultra Instinct. And Mega Medicham using the three elemental punches in a row with its extra arms like a wheel.

Detect, Ice Punch, Fire Punch, and Thunder Punch would look nice as well its just not as strong. I wish it got to keep power-up punch like Lucario but it didn't...
